Jefferson's Very Small Batch Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed April 18, 2015 (edited June 19, 2015)Compared to the Woodford, there is more hint of vanilla and quite smooth. I got to say: I like it! A lot. -
Balvenie DoubleWood 17 Year
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed April 18, 2015 (edited November 4, 2015)What an amazing scotch! I'm a huge fan of the 12, but this has everything I love with the Doublewood 12 but with a smoothness of a 17. Fantastic!!! -
Jack Daniel's Gentleman Jack
Tennessee Whiskey — Tennessee, USA
Reviewed January 18, 2015 (edited June 8, 2016)Nick Kelly is a bad influence on me as he only drinks whiskey, and Jack Daniels has always been hit-and-miss with me. Gentleman's Jack is a surprise to my non-educated palette and I think I've made a new friend. This whiskey is smooth, delightful, and offers overtones of vanilla. This is a great drink, and sets a bar for other whiskey out there. -
Talisker 10 Year
Single Malt — Islands, Scotland
Reviewed November 26, 2014 (edited December 15, 2014)I remember the Talisker...vaguely. It was a night with Farscape actor Lani Tupu. I introduced him to scotch...and what a night it was! Talisker was a pleasant dram, but it was better as a follow-up than a lead-in. It's very good though. -
Highland Park 12 Year
Single Malt — Islands, Scotland
Reviewed November 26, 2014 (edited February 13, 2015)My wife introduced me to Highland Park, and what surprises me about the 12 is its versatility. Have it neat, it revels in smoke and peat. Cut with water, it becomes flowery. Cut it with ice, it's sweet. Literally, it's three great scotches in one bottle. -
Balvenie Doublewood 12 Year
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed November 26, 2014 (edited April 24, 2018)This and the Highland Park 12 remain my favorite of the single malts. With that sweet sherry finish, the Doublewood is a lovely nightcap, particularly with friends around the fire. -
Woodford Reserve Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed November 25, 2014 (edited December 6, 2014)My first bourbon, introduced to me by Phil Rossi. Lovely smoke with a sweet caramel overtone. This sets the bar for other bourbon.
