Elmer T. Lee Single Barrel Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed April 4, 2017 (edited April 24, 2018)Famously (now) hard to find without being horrifically pricey, somehow I've lucked out at two neighborhood bars of mine having bottles. It's got spice on the palate, but the finish is all sweetness. I'd call this a traditional bourbon as far as flavor goes, but surprisingly light heat (ie low proof) - so smooth you'd wonder if there was corn in the mash! -

Fidencio Clásico Mezcal
Mezcal Joven — Oaxaca, Mexico
Reviewed January 25, 2017 (edited April 24, 2018)Really fragrant, even from across the room - in a good way. Earthy without being funky, but bright. To taste, that brightness is lime juice (not zest) and maybe pineapple, light spice, just at the edge of smokey - like an unpeated scotch. No burn, not that hot, very smooth.
