Glenkinchie 12 Year
Single Malt — Lowlands, Scotland
Reviewed March 25, 2022 (edited February 23, 2023)Actually like this one a lot. Quite smooth, mellow honey sweetness, cereal, fresh cut grass, some flowers, a little hint little citrus, creamy. Great choice for everyone, uncomplicated.38.0 EUR per Bottle -
Well, I do love a good Gin and this is certainly one of them. I am a big fan of Tanqueray, and this one I enjoy even more than the standard. Nose: strong citrus, juniper of course, a bit of an ethanol kick but it kind of works. Taste: strong juniper, but citrus is definitely the main character. Quite dry, probably the grapefruit. Then some herbal notes and some hidden sweetness with a bit of a spicy character. Finish: Still quite dry, gets a bit bitter, but not in a bad way, ends with this bittery spicyness. Overall a really nice London Dry, love it in a Martini or G&T or a more citrus-forward drink like a Gimlet or Gin Rickey. Also quite nice for sipping and on the rocks, although sipping Gin seems somehow weird to me. Extra points for the unique bottle. Great quality Gin, you can definitely get great Gins for less, but I think you do get what you pay for. Would give this 71/100 (which is a lot in my ratings).28.0 EUR per Bottle

I was really excited to see how this tastes. I'm not a big fan of vodka, so it shouldn't be surprising that I'm not the biggest fan of Reyka either, but it's still a pretty good vodka. Nose: strong ethanol. Not much else. Taste: very clean mineral taste. A very hidden hint of sweet citrus. Kind of a full body, which was surprising. Finish: still clean, then a strong burn, then it leaves with some warm peppery notes. Overall nothing spectacular, don't expect too much from this. I have to say though, I was surprised by the contrast of the strong burn and the still very smooth mouthfeel. Also, the bottle is very pretty, so I still am happy to have this standing on my shelf, I would recommend other vodkas over this though. Absolut Vodka is way cheaper and definitely not worse, and there are definitely better bottles in similar price ranges, like Tito's or Chopin. That said, this is definitely a good choice for a lot of cocktails as it is very clean and therefore a great base, although I wouldn't recommend it for a Vodka Martini (due to the strong burn).38.0 EUR per Bottle
