Pinhook 4 Year Bourbon War Vertical Series
Bourbon — USA
Reviewed December 11, 2020 (edited December 30, 2020)Nose: Vanilla and Tobacco are prominent. There is a waxy walnut note, but it is very bright and shiny. Palate: Vanilla and tobacco follow. Some clove and dry oak. Comes in a little hot for 98 proof. As it sits on my tongue, it turns to brown sugar, which melts nicely. I can def tell the age. Finish: Short. Period. That waxy walnut note from the nose returns. Summary: a great start for the 9 year vertical Pinhook will put out. But right now, it’s just O.K. 80/100 -
Nose: Classic........ Cherry sweetness, some typical Vanilla and Caramel. I am also getting a walnut note that I really enjoy. Palate: That caramel turns into a really rich and deep Caramel with Vanilla deliciousness. It really rounds off into a tiny oak note. Finish: Very Short Finish. A little dry, but I get a nice Cinnamon Apple note on the finish. Summary: One of the most well rounded bottles I’ve tasted. I really enjoyed that walnut note and wish it continued into the palate. 89/100

Reviewed December 2, 2020 (edited December 4, 2020)Nose: I’m loving this Nose. Honey and Brown Sugar, sweet oak, and mint. Very complex and delicate at the same time. Palate: Canned Spice Peaches, gorgeous mouthfeel. Melts over my tongue. Some baking spices and vanilla comes through on the back end. Finish: Oily, definitely. Melts down the back of my throat like butter. That mint note comes through from the nose. Loving this pour. 90/100 -
