Smooth Ambler Contradiction Rye
Rye — West Virginia , USA
Reviewed July 25, 2021 (edited September 10, 2021)On the nose I’m not getting much at all, but that’s probably me and not the whiskey. On the taste I’m getting all the normal rye spice with some green apples and some alcohol burn. There is a vanilla almost cake frosting at the very front of this. the whiskey has some legs and a lengthy finish. If you like rye this one doesn’t steer you wrong. -
Glenns Creek Distilling Stave + Barrel Single Barrel Double Oaked
Bourbon — Kentucky , USA
Reviewed May 30, 2021So dark it looks like an aged rum. Palate is oak, leather and a touch of sweetness. The alcohol is noticeable but not so hot that it’s undrinkable. This is an interesting one....not complex not horrible but it’s lacking something....it just seems to fall apart somewhat on the finish. -
