Sampled the Wee Beastie with An Oa. The Wee Beastie is bold, aggressive and smoky. The alcohol hits a bit harder than I expected and it’s name is well deserved. I poured An Oa because I thought the Beastie also had a sherry influence. It may but peat is the main attraction. I would take the gentler An Oa over the Beastie but these are really different styles - if you like bold peat then the Wee Beastie is worth a try.

Bruichladdich The Classic Laddie Scottish Barley
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed July 30, 2020 (edited December 15, 2020)This whisky is not for me. Hot, not in a good way, malty, and not a pleasant dram for me. Bought it because it was a good price. Should have passed. -
Kirkland 22 Year Speyside Single Malt Sherry Cask Finish
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed June 23, 2020 (edited July 15, 2021)A Costco brand, very smooth and hits the palette more like a 40 abv. The bottle says 6 months of sherry influence and the colour says “Macallan 12 first fill sherry for 12 years”. Let’s go ahead and say there is a bunch of colour added but the whisky is still good. The nose is a bit flat but there are some sherry notes. A good buy for scotch but for the price I would pick up a Pike Creek 21 Year Oloroso Cask instead - about $45 cheaper here.
