Aberlour 16 Year Double Cask Matured
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed May 19, 2021 (edited January 1, 2022)Like the 12 yr old? This is like that, but smoother and more mature. In fact, I’m not sure after having this I can go back to the 12. Add a drop of water and it’s mellow and warming. The nose is much less straight alcohol than the 12 and teasing of the candied fruits. Not burning in the mouth and throat at all. Smooth and delicious. Can’t wait to see if the 18 yr kicks it up further notches.63.0 EUR per Bottle -
Glenmorangie Nectar d'Or Sauternes Cask Finish
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed December 14, 2020 (edited May 2, 2022)Strong alcohol nose out of the bottle. Let it sit and decant first. Strong alcohol on the palate at first also, lessens with oxidation. Added a drop or two of water, and the sweetness came out. Fruity palate with a slight aftertaste of almonds. Definitely a keeper!Aichtal -
Glenlivet 12 Year Double Oak
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed December 9, 2020 (edited December 29, 2020)Nose: caramel Taste: green apple? Peat, chocolate, toffee. Burns the mouth slightly, but not the throat. Aberlour 12 year is better, but I bet the 16 yr Glenlivet would be decent. I’m not overly impressed, but I don’t think I’m supposed to be. I think I would prefer a more complex scotch.
