Colonel E.H. Taylor, Jr. Small Batch Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed May 3, 2020 (edited May 10, 2020)Nose: menthol, red licorice, oak, milk chocolate, light candy Palate: oily, brown sugar, oak, a little peanutty Finish: old leather, musty oak, light cola, short-medium length Felt like I had to hunt to get these notes. I'd prefer them to present themselves to me. Disappointing finish. Solid bourbon; kinda sweet, but not overly so. Light mouth burn towards the front of my mouth. Probably wouldn't spend more than $40 for it. 80/100 - Buying at MSRP40.0 USD per Bottle -
This was really enjoyable, but it's not something I'd reach for. It was sweet and tasty and I could get some dried fruits in the taste, but I think I also got some ginger and I'm really not a fan of ginger. This was really nice to have and I'd enjoy it if offered, but I think the ginger would prevent me from keeping a bottle on the shelf. If there's something else out there that tastes the same, but without the ginger, sign me up.

Glenfiddich Grand Cru 23 Year
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed September 23, 2019 (edited October 29, 2019)Interesting finish, kind of lifts up at the end, which I think is because of the bubblyness from the champagne? I don't know. Enjoyable dram, but I wouldn't pay the $300 the VA ABC is looking for. Very smooth with minimal burn. Palate was sweet with honey and maybe a white grape? I'd also venture to say there was a floral taste as well. Quite nice and I liked it better than the 18, but certainly beyond my price range. The box is pretty cool. It spins open and makes a great presentation overall, which is the kind of vibe they're going for. That this spirit will enhance any mood, night, etc, and I think it'd be something nice to share with people who are fancy and would toast with champagne, but instead, the whiskey connoisseur gives them this and they'd all enjoy it and discuss how it's different. -

Russell's Reserve 10 Year Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed June 18, 2019 (edited May 12, 2021)nose has lots to it. it was constantly evolving, and had a strong cinnamon or clove smell that lingered for ages taste: honestly a little disappointed with the actual taste after all the smells. lots of alcohol burn. definitely picked up some of the barrel and some nuttiness finish: really dries your mouth out but the flavor continues to grow Disappointing taste, but the nose really is amazing, with an unusually dry finished to my regular drinks makes for a fun experience, which is why my rating is as high as it is with a disappointing taste 75/100 - Sure I'll take some38.0 USD per Bottle
