Tastes

Friend brought a bottle, for a few of us to try. Great easy drinking whisky with lovely toffee and Demerara sugar taste from the Rum cask.

Toffee, salt, some dried fruit on the aroma. Peat and smoke comes through on the taste with sweetness in good balance. Not overwhelming in any regard. Given to JR for his 68th, we tried a dram together.

Was expecting a little more peat in this. Certainly fruity, apple and maple syrup came through. Had good character and was very easy to drink.

Very different to any other Islay I’ve tried. Definitely an interesting aroma, kind of chemically/ iodine, with rubbery, salty and damp wood/ moss coming through too. Taste has some sweetness followed by a good bodied peat and smoke. Good interesting whisky, but Ardbeg and Laphroaig has better options for the same price of over £50

Very good whiskey, good QPR with a semi complex flavor profile. Can definitely get the sweetness with some caramel and vanilla. Oak comes through strong as well, that is supplemented by spice and a little tobacco leaf.

Great clean easy drinking whisky, with initial sweetness of vanilla. Good price for a Japanese whisky.

I love Islay whiskies, but this was a little lacking in depth, quite medicinal.
