Sotol Coyote Blanco Durango
Distiller Score 83
The nose to this spirit shows a deep, clay-y earthiness and complexity reminiscent of aged parmesan. The palate has admirable richness and a flavor akin to agave, but ultimately does not fulfill the expectations set by the nose. The sotol finishes with more earthiness and a touch of ripe, sweet peppers making it very pleasant and a fine, if not profound, example of the category.

Ocho Cientos Sotol Blanco
Distiller Score 90
The blanco shares many traits with aged expressions of agave, showing deep flavors of buttery roasted nuts, smoky beachwood, dill and cocoa. These are balanced by fresh flavors of fresh-cut grass, eucalyptus, pineapple, mango and earth, all tied together with a peppery spice and a medium viscosity.

Sotol Por Siempre
Distiller Score 96
The nose features lime and grapefruit peel along with a bit of white pepper and a hint of florality. A bit of earthiness also presents itself, and just a whisper of smoke appears. On the palate, the entry is slightly sweet, with wet cement and saddle leather notes, before a rush of smoke and white pepper. Underneath, there is still an evident sweetness and some herbal notes before a nice finish of campfire smoke and leather. This sotol is an excellent example of the quality that can be achieved with skilled hands handling the distillation of the desert spoon plant.

Peach Street D'agave Gold

Pale straw in color with a honey sweetness evident on the bouquet as well as a note of lemon. Initially the taste has a subtle agave note before flavors of toasted oak and cocoa powder takeover. The finish is lingering and sweet.

Tailwinds Silver Agave
Distiller Score 75
Aromas of cotton candy, geranium, and white flowers are dominant over the subtler notes of honeydew melon and green pepper. This starts and ends sweet and is very heavy in the mouth. The bitterness is not unpleasant and is balanced by the sweetness. Finish is medium length with a lingering heat.

Hacienda de Chihuahua Sotol Añejo
Distiller Score 79
Holding on to its rusticity there is a pronounced note of moist soil, accompanied by cola, cinnamon and parsley on the nose. On the palate there is a grassiness which strangely resembles that of rhum agricole, more soil, vanilla and parsley. A peculiar spirit and a must try for any agave spirits geek!

Papilio
Distiller Score 77
Papilio, distilled from a blend of blue agave and maple syrup, is difficult to classify. By method of production, it resembles a mixto tequila. But with its hint of tropical coconut on the nose and flavors of dark molasses, its taste is more reminiscent of a full-bodied white rum. Combining agave and maple syrup is an intriguing idea. It's not a compelling spirit for sipping, but perhaps it could find interesting application in tropical drinks.

El Ladrón Blanco Blue Agave Spirit
Distiller Score 81
The aroma will be familiar to those that have tasted new-make whiskey. This aroma is blended with some sweet roasted agave and freshly-cut grass. There are some ripe raspberry notes on the mid-palate and the finish is now more like an agave spirit. The finish is slightly bitter, dry and clean.

El Ladrón Reposado Blue Agave Spirit
Distiller Score 79
A slight cinnamon note greets you and the vegetal characteristic is on the low side and more reminiscent of nopalitos (prickly pear cactus pads). There's more of a sweet vanilla note which continues on the palate. These flavors, however, are short-lived as the finish comes quickly with a dry and bitter profile. There isn't much sweetness or depth to the product; perhaps this could benefit for a bit more time in barrel.
