You feel the warmth first, as the nose betrays little prior to your first taste. A hint of caramel and memories of baked treats from years past delight the palate, and a gentle finish lingers, enticing you to take the next sip. A thoroughly pleasant dram, best enjoyed at special occasions.
The nose was amazing: sweet and flowery. Mouth was not at all what I expected. I’m finding it hard to describe. A previous reviewer posted “bland” and after the nose I would lean that way also. Maybe I need to let it air some more. I get leather and oak, not sweet at all. I love the smoke and peat of Ardbeg and the sweetness of Balvenie 12 so perhaps this Arbelour just isn’t my cup of whiskey.
