Most scotch that spends time in a sherry butt only spends part of its life there. In the case of Springbank's Amontillado cask, it's not a "finish." The scotch spends a full twelve years in butts that previously contained Amontillado sherry.
"A very spicy nose with lots of chocolate, salty sea air, and chocolate covered cherries. The taste is a well balanced blend of Springbank's trademark character and sherry influence: salt and cinnamon, with lots of juicy cherry, crème brûlée, with an underlying herbal complexity. A splash of water brings out more juicy fruit, almonds, and spice."
