Aerstone Land Cask 10 Year

Rate it for what it is, not what you wish it were. I live 4,000 miles from Scotland but somehow I can buy this 10 year old single malt down the street for just $30. Is it the best whisky I’ve ever had? No. But the fact is I can’t buy a 10 year old American whiskey as good as Aerstone for this price. This is smoky, funky, and very drinkable.

Nice peat, present but not overpowering ,decently smooth

I was expecting a lot from this whiskey given the price and the 10 year premise. There's really nothing bad about this peated malt except the fact that it's completely average. Nothing really stands out here. The nose and finish are too mild and forgettable, the palate is nicely peated but nothing special. I was planning to try the Sea Cask as well, but probably won't. I would recommend buying the Land Cask only if you're really into peat and can find it on sale.

Just purchased. Taste to follow

Not bad. Great aroma. Smoke smoke smoke. Taste is fairly weak for a scotch with mild smoke, not too many woody notes, sharp alcohol. Makes a great scotch n soda though. Better than it should be for the price. I suppose. But scotch doesn't deserve that attitude :p
