Reviewed July 9, 2022One brilliant peat and sherry combination. Aged 12.5 years in Spanish Oak PX Sherry Butts before being aged an additional 2.5 years in a Japanese Konara Cask, a cask similar to Mizunara Casks, this is a sweet, meaty, and smoky dram full of notes of raisins, dates, prune juice, dark chocolate, walnuts, Hazlenuts, molasses, bacon, sandalwood, salted toffee, cinnamon, baby back pork ribs, chili peppers, mocha, blood oranges, ginger, and hickory barbecue smoke. In a blind tasting I say this is a sherry cask Octomore given its sherry cask influence and similar tasting notes to the Octomore 18 I tried at the Bruichladdich masterclass and the Octomore Valinch.
