Nose: Brown sugar, spice, and honey roasted peanuts.
Palate: raisins from the port barrels, with more brown sugar and spice, and some vanilla wafers. moderate sweetness. a little heat
finish: warm spice, moderate length
Absolutely nothing wrong with this bourbon, but its a little steep at $50. would gladly pay $40 but unless I start making more money it might be a rare buy.
The corn sweetness melds well with the oak, lending a malt-like quality to the palate. The malt-like character continues, as sweetness leads to wood spice. The finish is less than memorable. Be that as it may, I'll probably buy this once a year just to have a cool-looking bottle on the bourbon shelf.
