House of Angostura, known for their bitters since 1824, also distills and sells a line of rums, in addition to using them in their bitters production. Column-distilled and aged in Trinidad, Angostura rums span from light silver rums to luxury sippers. Angostura also sells bulk rums to other producers and independent bottlers. The Angostura 7 Year rum is a blend of rums aged at least seven years in used American oak bourbon barrels.
Gold RumRum that is often aged, but can also just have caramel-coloring added to provide color. No specific type or size barrel required. No set time required for aging for most countries with a few exceptions.
"In the glass, the rum is dark amber in hue. The nose is light, offering slight hints of vanilla. The rum enters the palate with a brief flash of moderate sweetness and vanilla before transitioning to a dry, toasted oak finish. At the very end is a bit of custard. The Angostura is a respectable entry-level sipper as well as a solid base for cocktails calling for dry, vanilla-forward rums."
