Arctic Ice Moonshine Whiskey
Anchorage Distillery // Alaska, USA
Using grains that hail from Alaska itself, Anchorage Distillery creates its white whiskey from a blend of locally sourced ingredients. Their products are also distilled using "pristine glacier water" and tout the flavors of Alaskan terrain. The company also makes gin and a series of vodkas (including flavored) most of which sport the "100% Alaskan" claim.
WhiteDistilled from a cereal mash bill comprised of any grain(s). Generally unaged except in the US, where it must age at least briefly in oak for an unspecified amount of time. Sometimes sold as "moonshine" although that is a misnomer.
"The first introduction to this whiskey is corn, followed by a sour/salty scent. As it sits, a light peppermint note appears. Flavor-wise, this is more than meets the initial nose. The taste is much more savory than expected and somewhat oily with a hint of banana. It's creamy going down with a touch of heat--nice to see a white whiskey not taste rougher than it should at 80 proof."
