Ardbeg Corryvreckan

I like Uigedal better, but this is also fantastic. More burn, less fruit than it's competitor from Ardbeg, but also richer in some ways. Cheaper when I bought it, too!

Added water. Definitely cuts and smooths the smoke and peat, not as harsh. Still maintains its spiciness. Sweetness is subdued a little.

Tried 11/9 without water. Strong smoke and peat, spicy, peppery. Taste lingers.

My first Islay, so I would not do it justice with a novice detailed tasting note. What is readily apparent, is that underneath the smoke and brine, there is a beautifully crafted, delicious whisky. I’m so glad I purchased it, and have no doubt as I grow accustomed to this style, I’ll enjoy this bottle more and more with each pour.
