Machrie Moor previously had been released in batches sporadically over the years, but Arran added the product to their portfolio permanently. The whisky is named after a mystical peat bog on the west coast of the Isle of Arran with stone circles and standing stones strewn across the terrain. According to legend, a giant named Fingal kept his favorite dog named Bran tethered to the stones here.
This peated single malt was distilled at Lochranza Distillery where Arran is produced, but the brand has since 2019 had their peated whiskies distilled at their sister distillery Lagg. This bottling represents some of the last original peated whisky at Lochranza. It's bottled at 46% ABV without chill filtration.
