Arran Smuggler Series The Illicit Stills Vol. 1
Arran // Islands, Scotland
The Illicit Stills whisky from the Arran Distillery is the first release in the Smuggler's Series. This series was released to celebrate the illicit distillation that took place on the island in the 18th and 19th centuries. The Illicit Stills is made with both heavily-peated, medium-peated, and unpeated malt, while also being aged in American oak barrels. The bottle comes packaged inside a hollowed out book.
Single MaltDistilled in pot stills from 100% malted barley, produced at one distillery, aged in barrels; if Scotch or Irish, must be aged for at least three years.

"A creamy aroma at first, accompanied by lemon zest and lime. The peat is subtle, but definitely there. Some sweeter elements also, like butter, vanilla and apricots. The palate is spicy (chili peppers) and fairly peaty, with a hint of rubber. Some canned peaches provide sweeter notes. A very convincing expression."
