Bacardí Gold (Carta Oro) is a blend of molasses-based rums that have been aged one to two years in ex-bourbon barrels. These rums are then passed through a "secret blend" of charcoals. The bottle depicts the symbol of the Cuba Libre, celebrating the popular rum, cola and lime cocktail made with it in Cuba before the company moved production to Puerto Rico in the 1960s.

"Strong aromas of vanilla, brown sugar and bananas are followed by sweet roasted nuts, toffee and honey. It has an alcoholic burn mixed with heavy charcoal flavors, but it is not nearly as pronounced as its clear sibling. While this too isn't much of a neat sipper, it's a decent cheap bottle to have on hand for mixing."
