Baltimore Epoch Straight Rye
Baltimore Epoch // Maryland, USA
This straight rye whiskey is distilled at Baltimore Whiskey Company and is the first rye whiskey to be distilled in that city in nearly a three-quarters of a century. It is made from a mash bill of 70% rye grain and 30% rye malt. It is pot-distilled and matured in a 53-gallon new, charred American oak barrel. The first batch consisted of two barrels and sold out quickly when it was released on St. Patrick's Day 2018. The next batch released in April 2018 was made from six barrels. Bottled at 100 proof.
RyeMash bill at least 51% rye; aged in new, charred oak barrels.

"The proof is in the driver’s seat the whole way. A dry and spicy aroma that will singe your nostrils. The palate initially tastes of grain and thinned butter. Then bold spice takes over and lights up your tongue for a hot finish. Add some water and you’ll get a little more butter added to the equation."
