Slightly more intense and interesting than the 12 year old doublewood. Nose is quite warm and offers delicious notes of cinnamon, caramel and diesel. Palate was expertly balanced and very pleasant.
This tastes very similar to the 12 yr. Creamy, sherry, butterscotch. It’s got a little more chocolate than the 12, and it’s slightly smoother. As i drink it, it gets fuller, but it’s not super rich. Still has a tinge if sulphur like the 12. Glad I got to try it, because it’s enjoyable, but not near worth the $140 price point.
Closest scotch I have tasted to bourbon. The additional oak flavor is very present here, lending to a sweeter overall finish. Low peat but a hint of smoke. Worth finding again.
