Benchmark Small Batch Bourbon (90 Proof)

Review #362 Glass: Glencairn, rested 15 minutes. Color: Pale, almost yellow. Nose: Caramel, vanilla, strong ethanol for 90 proof. Palate: Mild baking spice and some oak tannins. Finish: Medium length with medium heat. Splash: No new flavors are revealed. Overall: 4/10 - This would make a decent mixer, but a little too harsh to drink neat.

Pretty classic bourbon notes for a cheap price. Good enough to enjoy neat, probably going to put it in the freezer though

Adult watered-down apple juice. Can't really knock it for the price.

Benchmark Small Batch is not as good as original Benchmark No 8 .The nose is harsh oak johnnie one note.The entry and palate is sweet black tea.The brief finish is spice and hint of oak.It is over sweet and not good straight or mixed.

I could not resist to try a new Buffalo Trace bourbon. Small batch ought to mean something good... I only like to drink my whiskey neat and I could not do that with this one! Sad to say this is a mixer only bourbon. I had to resort to adding a splash of coke to make it drinkable. I also managed to drink some on the rocks, but it wasn't enjoyable. I Love the Buffalo Trace flavor profile, but man was it buried under a lot of young sharp HEAT. This whiskey is young, leaving a lot to be desired. Maybe I was expecting too much out of this being priced at $18. If your looking to mix, then this could still be a contender. Pass

For the price, this is an overall decent bourbon. Vanilla notes at the front end that fade to a buttery creamy middle and end with a slightly lingering spice. It wont knock your socks off but it also wont hurt your wallet. Slightly better than, but comparable to, Top Floor

It’s a good Bourbon, but I’d settle for the Top Floor Benchmark. This Bourbon has more flavor but it’s a watery flavor. If you want the full body flavor then its worth it to make the jump to Benchmark Single Barrel.

For price you csnt beat this. Smooth 90 proof not too complex. A bourbon that most will like.

Brown sugar, apricot, caramel, vanilla, light hint of baking spice and citrus, like a mulled cider. Low ethanol burn. Sweet is prominent, the rest is subdued but present- Surprised me for the price.
