Blackwell Rum is the creation of Chris Blackwell, a pioneer in the music industry. The man who helped bring the likes of Bob Marley and Peter Tosh to the international stage has joined forces with Joy Spence (Master blender of Appleton rum) to revive the old recipe for J. Wray & Nephew and Appleton Estate (which was formerly owned by Blackwell’s grandfather). Pot and column distilled and aged in American Oak barrels for 18-24 months this rum is a nod to the past.

  • Dark Rum
AKA Black Rum. Usually aged (but not always) and has additional caramel-coloring added to provide the dark/black color. Some are distilled from blackstrap molasses. No specific type or size barrel required for aging nor is there a set time required for aging in most countries with a few exceptions.

Tasting Notes

"A rich and somewhat deep, the Blackwell rum is a bit like Jamaican rum for beginners. Sweet and not too funky the nose is full of tar, sugar crystals, orange peel, cocoa, and cigar box. The palate is fruity and easy with dried fruits, walnut, yeast, and hogo with a rubber note on the finish. There is an easy sweetness and a pleasant balance to this deep but not overly-fussy rum."
