Single barrel survivor store pick, and I wasn’t sure what to expect other than the guys kept saying it was interesting. Turns out it’s interesting in a good way if you like very smooth buttery vanilla caramel pour! Scent is vanilla and a slight bit of banana. After opening it for a few days the true caramel and vanilla flavors come out. Surprisingly there’s only a hint of wood at the end along with warmth, but not alcohol burn. Picked up a second bottle before they’re gone.

Big on the vanilla. Hot at the end, but what do you expect for 117 proof

Bought this store pick as a flyer from Gomers in Lenexa, KS without a lot of expectations. Is only advertised as at least 3 yrs old. Came out of the OZ Tyler rickhouse collapse. Fairly light color, virtually no legs in the glass. Nose is pungent allspice and sweet cherries. Palate is more of the same, with emphasis on cinnamon. Hot finish, black pepper. I cannot believe this is only three years old, no ethanol on the nose or palate and plenty of barrel. This whiskey reminds me a lot of Old Forester 1920, with possibly a better nose if less complex palate. I love good surprises.
