Master Distiller Barry Young is committed to sourcing his ingredients from the distillery's home state of Pennsylvania. The molasses used to create BLY Silver Rum comes from Lancaster and is what he calls baking molasses, thanks to its purity. The molasses ferments for 21 days before it enters a pot still. The resulting rum is bottled at 40% ABV.
Silver RumAKA Blanco, Light, White. Rum that is usually aged (but not always) and carbon-filtered to remove any color. No specific type or size barrel required. No set time required for aging for most countries with a few exceptions.
"A fresh sweetness and slight astringency on the nose, the aroma of BLY Silver Rum makes an impression, then dissipates quickly. On the palate, it has a buttery texture and hints at cajeta-topped vanilla ice cream, with an undercurrent of banana sweetness and earthy funk. It leads to a spicy, slightly prickly finish. "
