Box Quercus II Alba
Box // Sweden
Swedish single malt distiller Box's "Quercus" line focuses on different species of oak, in this case American white oak (Quercus alba). This whisky was first stored in used bourbon casks, then finished in small casks made from new white oak sourced in eastern and central North America. Only 9,806 (500ml) bottles were produced with an ABV of 50.8%.
Single MaltDistilled in pot stills from 100% malted barley, produced at one distillery, aged in barrels; if Scotch or Irish, must be aged for at least three years.

"Swedish spirits are increasingly gaining recognition, and this release from Box is a great example of why. It's a multi-layered, complex single malt, with notes of pear, sea salt, lemon zest, and a touch of smoke, all leading up to a bright, warming finish. It compares very favorably to island Scotch whiskies, fans of which will find much to like here."
