Brugal Extra Viejo Rum
Aged Rum
Brugal // Dominican Republic
Brugal Extra Viejo remains the traditional backbone of the Brugal lineup. It features rum aged for between three and eight years entirely in ex-bourbon casks.
Brugal has been shifting their profile a bit in the lighter direction, and playing with Oloroso sherry casks, while preferring to skew to a younger, international market. This, though, is a more classic expression for them.

Aged RumRum that is aged, but no specific type or size barrel required. No set time required for length of aging, but will often carry an age statement (which should be taken with a grain of salt). Often thought of as "sipping rums".

Tasting Notes
"The nose offers a rich sweetness, with dark brown sugar and molasses, along with lighter sweet notes honey, and vanilla, and faint touches of smoke. The palate is dry and wood dominant, with heaps of oak, and a chewy mouthfeel. There's also some smoke and cinnamon, but surprisingly after the nose, it offers little in the way of sweetness. Find a long spicy finish to bring things home."
