Buffalo Trace Experimental Collection Coarse Grain Oak

Released in 2009, this is one of two bottles from the sixth batch of the Experimental Collection by Buffalo Trace. This edition is part of a pair of releases that play with the coarseness of the wood grain used in the barrels. Slow growing trees create a fine grain wood; fast growing create coarse grain wood. This bourbon was made from BT Rye Mash #2, distilled in July 1994 and barreled into a coarse grain oak cask at a #4 char. After fourteen years and nine months (and 51% evaporation), the barrel was emptied in May 2009 and bottled at 45% ABV.
