Buffalo Trace Single Oak Project Bourbon
Bourbon
Buffalo Trace // Kentucky, USA
Buffalo Trace Single Oak Project Bourbon is the product of the Single Oak Project, an experiment put together by Buffalo Trace. The project used 96 individually selected American oak trees and cut them into two parts, top and bottom. This yielded 192 unique sections, and a single barrel was constructed from each of these sections.
Each barrel was charred differently and stave seasoning was varied. Each barrel was filled with a different whiskey recipe, with various entry proofs and all were aged in different ways. The whiskeys were released over the course of 4 years, ending in 2015, and barrel #80 was selected as the winner.
