Wood spice is almost white-peppery, but also astringent. Irish sweet shortbread is there but is not the main event. Barrel character beats out the notes. Also a bit of unrefined grain alcohol on the nose, but it's not off-putting

Quite a fresh caramel nose.
Vanilla, cinnamon, and honey.
Butterscotch and fruity taste.
Melon, apple, and floral notes.
Doesn't much taste like a bourbon cask.
More so a cheap sherry cask style.
It's okay. Nothing challenging.
Nose is thin with a touch of cereal, and that carries into the taste which is a light bodied spicy sweetness with a dash of vanilla and a touch of smoke. Short peppery finish. A drop or two of water releases more vanilla and spice. Overall, this is a better than average whiskey, very drinkable but not spectacular.
