Calumet Farm 8 Year Kentucky Straight Bourbon

For the price point, its not a good bottle. Too much burn for 90 proof. I’ve tried to like it, drank half the bottle and I still won’t serve this to my friends.

I get a lot of grape on the nose. Hint of charcoal, too. Subtle floral notes on the palate with some tea. Medium finish with a nice warmness for a 90-proofer. I like it.

The nose is like jamming my schnozz in a family size bag of original Skittles. In other words - sweet! But that’s something I’m a fan of, so bodes well. Palate is all those fruity flavors mixing around. But, it’s a sort of uninteresting sweetness, as if someone dosed my glass with a few drops of simple syrup. Not bad, per se, but seems unoriginal. Finish is again a pleasant, if boring, sweetness. I could drink alot of this too quickly and without a second thought. The problem is that I like a little challenge in my sip.

It's got a burn. Maybe black licorice.
