Supremely smooth and rich, albeit quite sweet (more so than cuervo gold). I've heard that this is the most flavorful and balanced tequila around. While I can say that hints of vanilla, anise, mint, vegetables, and minerals are present, maple (well, actually agave) syrup was far and away the dominant flavor. The sweetness did give way and then return with the herbal flavors for a long, mild finish. This is quite good, especially the amazing smoothness (seriously, it doesn't taste close to 40%), but I wish the sweetness were less pronounced and the other flavors more. Really, it tastes more like a rum and if I want rum, I'll buy rum. Back in the day, when I first learned that takes tequila was made from agave I imagined that it would be super sweet. In that regard, this but tequila lands closest to the mark, but the fact that I now find it to be too sweet is problematic. I'm a scotch drinker, so keep that in mind when considering my opinion, but although I enjoyed this tequila, I found its shortcomings sufficient to keep it from top shelf status.
