Colonel E.H. Taylor, Jr. Amaranth Bourbon

Delicious stuff but not sure if it was SOOO different than some of the other EH Taylor bottles I’ve had. Had a great price on a pour, and may try and grab the rest of the bottle - but really a lot of hype here. Maybe more than it’s worth. But really delicious.

The nose sets the bar very high; sweet, creamy vanilla, allspice, banana muffins, caramel with chocolate. Hints of leather and raspberries. On the palate the flavor is on the back end. When it appears, it starts with a warm, buttery vanilla and caramel. Hints of licorice and tobacco before a blast of white pepper to start the finish. Finish is lasting with hints of toasted oak and cherries. I'll be honest, I didn't think the high bar set for this whiskey would be met. But, its definitely unique from the EHT line, and in a good way.

Expected more of a punch from a BIB, however cool I got to try this new(er) EhT, just seems in my area prior to covid. It’s an easy drinker, little heat. Pick up caramel, not much for spice maybe a hint of cinnamon.

Caramel, butterscotch, baking spices, oak become rich & fragrant in the nose. Butterscotch, honey, caramel, summer fruits, and a little oak in the taste. Sweet flavors become leather & tobacco.

The amaranth was wierd I wanna say it's like a rice wine flavor. Similar to the original with a funky after taste I would stick to the original or the rye.
