Compass Box Stranger & Stranger

Still awesome. One of the best blended I have tasted. Nosing: pears, strawberries, light honey, vanilla, orange blossom, caramel, whipped cream, a touch of grassiness, cake frosting, canned pineapple. A very very sweet, delicate “blended spirits drink”. Tasting: quite oily. a sweet nutty notes, a bit of orange, a hint of honey. Finishing: honey notes.

As I left half of the bottle for a period, the grassiness is not that strong and the sweetness comes up immediately. I don’t think it is a good sign. Nosing: Vanilla, white grape, caramel, heavy cream, butter, almond, a touch of mint, red and green apple, pear, honey, citrusy, chrysanthemum. Sort of like a cup of herbal tea by adding a touch of honey. Tasting: citrus, chrysanthemum, oaky, a bit bitter. Finishing: long and floral.

Quite a fun whisky - or say, it’s a spirit drink. It officially cannot be called “scotch whisky” due to the 1% “sacrificial” grain whisky. Nosing: At first, grassy and touch of caramel. This whisky will open up with time. By giving more time, more flavour will come up. Apple, banana, vanilla, orange blossom, pineapple, custard, caramel, maybe cream brûlée? It sort of reminds me the flavour of Vanilla Coke. Tasting: sweet, grassy, oaky, orange blossom, oily. Finish: grassy, oaky.
