American BrandyProduced in the US, this is usually referring to brandy distilled from grape-based wine. If the producer uses other fruit, it must be stated on the label. If aged under two years in oak, it must state the word "immature" on the label. Beyond that, labels such as VS, VSOP, and XO mean little as the brands themselves dictate what that means to them.

Tasting Notes
"The nose offers grapy and fruity notes, some light chocolate, and a touch of spice. Palate is quite soft upfront and somewhat one note with oak and a grassy-herbal profile. Astringent. Big spice comes in on the finish, with dry oak and cedar, along with black pepper. Finish is long, and turns bitter, with cocoa lurking behind. Nose was exciting and then the palate disappointed."
