Reviewed August 18, 2021 (edited June 17, 2023)Corazon Blantons Single Barrel Gallenstein #8 So I catch up with my guy AP to grab this rabbit he snagged for me on a recent hunting trip. I go to grab the rabbit and he throws me a bottle of Corazon juice that was recently evicted from one of those stately Blantons homes south of Ohio. Kentucky y Mexico…Oh this might be better than a season of Narcos. I do not mix my tequila and my bourbon…(Young Miami voice)..Period. Don’t get me wrong, I’ll sip on my brown water and take partnering shots of some aged agave all night with no complaints. Wether it’s ringing the Casa Azul bell at the end of a great night or it’s ending a great night with your better half gone off half a bottle of the Clooney juice, I simply don’t mix my tequila and bourbon….Blantons and Corazon, nah bro…I was born in the 70s, some things just don’t go together….so I thought. In the g-glass the visuals are reminiscent of infused cucumber water. Right off the draw you’re peppered with the recognizable redolence that only tequila can provide. There are no visual or aromatic tell tells that distinguish this pour as being anything other than agave in a cup. The first sip begs to differ. Yes…that lowland burn is there to greet your palate like a 20-year retiree at Wally World, but then nothing. The juice makes its alpine decent as smooth as a vadge, fresh out of the European Wax Center. But up top your left with a piquancy that can only be described as……..wait for it….Blantons!! What mystical trick have you played on me Corazon? Dead-ass this is a dangerous pour. I get the palatable satisfaction of a pour of ‘Merica that at 80p doesn’t give the burn nor the buzz that my fav bourbon gives, but easily could end with a dead soldier at a solo sitting. Neat, this is one of those friends at the local gathering spot celebrating the homies promotion, engagement, or achievement, getting bent on cheap shots that leaves just enough sophistication to leave Don Draper content. I absolutely love Casa Azul for shots, sips, and even mixers. Casamigos is the Mrs. favorite agave for me and it works without fail. But this right here would easily fit the bill for either, on any given day of the week. Corazon is Espanol for heart…and whichever one of you millennials decide to throw your agave mash into bourbon barrels…you have mine. Tequila with a bourbon finish and under 40 beans? I’ll take two every time. I’ve seen a couple of recipes floating around for mixing this one and I plan on using pulling this one out for the next patio party. I’ll also be looking for the other expressions. Happy hump day folks. Thanks AP.✌🏾 -
