Cruxland Gin
Modern Gin
Cruxland // South Africa
The winemakers at KWV Distillery aimed to create a gin with emphasis on local botanicals. Cruxland Gin is a London Dry style gin that is double distilled from grapes, and features Kalahari truffles as the signature botanical.
These truffles also inspired the name of the gin. Known locally as N'abbas, these truffles tend to swell up after rains, and create a distinct cross-shaped crack in the ground.

Modern GinAlso has been referred to as "Contemporary", "New Western", "New Wave", and "New American". This style is not legally defined. In general, this category of gin, while it does contain juniper, places less of an emphasis on this botanical. Other botanicals not classically used in London Dry gins are often utilized and often highlight botanicals grown in the region the gin is produced. Most produced as either London Dry or Distilled Gins.
