Deep Eddy Vodka
Deep Eddy // Texas, USA
Deep Eddy Vodka is a corn-based vodka. It is column-distilled and charcoal filtered before Texas water is added to bring the vodka to proof. It first hit the market in 2011, a year after its Sweet Tea version. The distillery is located in Dripping Springs, about 20 miles outside of Austin where Deep Eddy Pool is located. This freshwater swimming pool is the oldest pool in Texas and is the inspiration for the brand's name.
Unflavored VodkaDistilled from any agricultural product, most commonly grains or potatoes. Typically distilled to 95% ABV. Water is added to bring the spirit down to as low as 37.5% ABV in the EU and 40% ABV in the US. It is usually filtered, often with charcoal, prior to bottling. It is almost always clear and unaged.
"There's a strange peppermint-candy like aroma to start you off. The vodka feels soft initially on your palate, but that feeling quickly leaves you as it dries your mouth. There's no discernible flavor to be found other than the first initial sweetness. Bitter and pepper finish from the alcohol burn. Wouldn't recommend to have on its own -- mixed drinks only."
