The Old Reliable is Dobson’s move into the "Irish whiskey" scene, triple-distilled for character. Aged in small batch French ex-shiraz casks, the grains used are Golden Promise and Bairds peated malt-barley, taken from Inverness. Dobson’s continue their theme of playful stories in regards to their whisky, the Old Reliable being released "when the gods of oak determine that the required balance of smoothness and flavour has been achieved". Tasting Notes

"An immense rush of citric orange gives way to floral, delicate smoke, weaving its way through towards the end. Candied peat with a shiraz plum influence intertwines itself with the orange. It is initially cloying on the tongue, the prickly mouthfeel soon fading away to give way to smoky citrus, with a slight flowery pattern. The finish is medium-short, cloying and with slightly bitter fragrance. The reliable smoky oranges soon appear towards the end to dance lightly across the palate. "
