In a blind taste test between 4 anejo tequilas, I quickly identified 1942 as one of the top tastes. My wife said it was the best overall, but it finished in second place in my opinion on this evening to a relatively unknown- SuaVecito (review coming). The smooth quality of 1942 was immediately apparent. I experienced the sharp spice I have heard about, but it dulled quickly as other characteristics came to the forefront; sweet and rich oak. Don Julio created a solid and highly sought after tequila with 1942. Clearly a quality recipe and a popular name. At around $100 per750ml bottle, it’s a lot to swallow, but a nice option to have when you desire this particular rich flavor.
