Casamigos Añejo Tequila
Tequila Añejo — Highlands, Jalisco, Mexico
Reviewed July 31, 2018 (edited February 17, 2019)I just typed a glowing, 2 paragraph tasting note on this app, describing a 6-way Anejo blind taste test where Casamigos Anejo tied for top honors with Don Julio Anejo. Don Julio 1942 came in second place. Anyway, because I am shattered by the loss of all the flowery vocabulary and time it took to compose it, I cannot recreate that literary masterpiece right now so I leave you with this... my wife and I agreed, Casamigos Anejo is delicious and well worth the price of admission. A must have for anyone who appreciates a high-quality tequila. I give it a rating of 4.4/5- so, so good! -
The spicy, rich-smoke, and earthy notes introduced in the first sip of this agave recipe are quickly checked by the sweet, ripened fruit characteristics that draw each mouthful to a close. For two weeks on a recent Puerto Vallarta, Mexico vacation with family, Don Julio Anejo and I became fast friends for sipping every evening accompanied by lively music, a solid cigar selection, and rooftop bar conversations. DJA is a well-aged tequila at an acceptable price point. It has become one of my go to sippers. Had I been able, via the Distiller app, I would have given DJA a 4.3 rating instead of 4.0 Enjoy Don Julio Anejo, a nifty nectar fit for daily digestion.50.0 USD per Bottle

When you pay big money, you expect big things. I must admit, I was very dissatisfied with this highly touted tequila. Based on the ratings on Distiller, many others apparently share my opinion. Maybe it is the “modern method” used to create this beverage that makes it fall short of expectations? All I know is it left me wanting to sample something else. May I suggest Casa Dragones Sipping Joven? It is so much better.

Clase Azul Tequila Plata
Tequila Blanco — Los Altos, Jalisco, Mexico
Reviewed July 17, 2018 (edited March 19, 2020)My wife and I have taken a number of years to build our selection of tequilas, very carefully researching as we go. Clase Azul Plata has been on the wish list for a while, but with a $70+ price point, we delayed the purchase. Last evening, we bought our first bottle and, not so surprisingly, enjoyed each sip. This is a sweet tequila, but that sucre is balanced by an almost off the charts flavor profile. Already huge fans of Clase Azul Reposado, we assumed their Plata would be very good too; little did we know it is beyond good, Clase Azul Plata is a tastebud sensation in a class all by itself- only to be sipped- never for mixing. Liquid gold my friend, liquid gold!!! Agave wine at its best. -
In a blind taste test between 4 anejo tequilas, I quickly identified 1942 as one of the top tastes. My wife said it was the best overall, but it finished in second place in my opinion on this evening to a relatively unknown- SuaVecito (review coming). The smooth quality of 1942 was immediately apparent. I experienced the sharp spice I have heard about, but it dulled quickly as other characteristics came to the forefront; sweet and rich oak. Don Julio created a solid and highly sought after tequila with 1942. Clearly a quality recipe and a popular name. At around $100 per750ml bottle, it’s a lot to swallow, but a nice option to have when you desire this particular rich flavor.
