Very good tequila. Smooth and buttery with big notes of nuts and baking spice. The influence of the bourbon barrels is evident. Some lingering vanilla on the finish. Ultimately a great Anejo expression, but perhaps not worthy of its price point. Slightly more complex but not clearly better than Don Julio 1942.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s nice—but I’d take 1942 over this one any day. Add in that that 1942 is substantially less expensive... and well, my choice is made.

I am biased. I don't think you can go wrong with anything from Don Julio. There is a good bit of oak and richness from the barrel. It is smooth and will demand you pay attention to the nuances. Every time I sip it I pick up something new. Very good neat and if you have to add anything, I would prefer splash of Grand Marnier and/or possibly Disaronno and a squeeze of lime and nothing else.
