Dutch’s Spirits based in New York’s Hudson Valley makes Peach Brandy in the traditional manner by using only peaches (from New York) that are first fermented then distilled into their small batch, 100% Peach Brandy. It is then aged in toasted American Oak Barrels. Bottled at 80 proof and hand labeled with batch and bottle number. (Note: Batch 02, bottle 61 was used for this review.)
American BrandyProduced in the US, this is usually referring to brandy distilled from grape-based wine. If the producer uses other fruit, it must be stated on the label. If aged under two years in oak, it must state the word "immature" on the label. Beyond that, labels such as VS, VSOP, and XO mean little as the brands themselves dictate what that means to them.
"This traditional peach brandy will not easily be confused with the more common peach flavored brandy. Aromas of almonds, dried peaches, peach pits and raisins are wrapped in a delicate layer of vanilla, cedar and a hint of nutmeg. On the palate, the flavors are true to the nose with a pleasant heat and the addition of honey, roasted peaches and baking spices. Finishes long and warm with notes of peach and vanilla that linger to the end. Restrained barrel aging allows the base spirit to shine through resulting in a balanced spirit worthy of drinking neat or in a well-crafted cocktail."
