Reviewed January 1, 2022Oak nose. Oak taste. It's like I'm in a woodshop. So much oak. I'm not mad about it. RePete's store pick at 126 proof. Doesn't feel all that hot. Because oak. -

Reviewed December 20, 2020 (edited January 9, 2021)This is a bourbon that only true enthusiasts will appreciate. Don't share this with your less experienced whiskey sipping friends. --- The release they did about a year ago stuck out to me as funky and unique (in a good way) and worth a buy, but it also wasn't anything exceptional. This recent release has some more age on it and it has really reached a new plateau. It's a bit more mature than the last release, yet still young at only 3 years of age. It also has some heat to it that can make it a bit harder for even experienced bouronites to appreciate. With that said, there is something truely exceptional about this bourbons. The flavor is bold and the mouth feel is exceptional in a way I have not experienced with other bourbons. I've purchased picks from Smitty's, Rishi's, and the Rockford Meijer, and the quality seems consistent through all of these products (all 3 being barreled on the same day, and 3 years later, bottled on the same day). This is potentially my favorite juice. It's far from perfect, but I'm really hoping we continue seeing this offering with more and more age over time.
