El Dorado 21 Year Old Special Reserve

Wow my fave rum so far not as sweet as my second fave cenatario 20 but that’s a good thing because el dorado 21 is sweet but not too sweet! Love the Demerara flavours the Christmas cake flavours some scotch lovers pay quadruple for.

Superb aroma, dark chocolate and tobacco. The first time I had this one, I could not make up the tobacco taste. It wasn’t until I tried Appleton Estate 21 that I realized what it was.

First impression is something deeper and more sophisticated than some of my other sweeter rums. Notes of caramel with a hint of tobacco and leather with maybe even a finish of banana. Looking forward to tasting number 2 and 3 to add to this. Tried again a few weeks later. Still a much dryer finish than anything else I have. Possible not enough caramel or sweet I’m used to with rum. It’s bordering close to a whiskey and it’s less sweet than most of my food bourbons. Having said that it’s very smooth.
