El Ron Prohibido Habanero Solera 12
El Ron Prohibido // Mexico
El Ron Prohibido ('The Forbidden Rum') is a unique rum from Mexico. In the 17th century, Prohibido was shipped to Spain in used wine barrels, and it was during the voyage where it acquired the distinctive sweet and bitter taste. It was enjoyed so much that local spirit producers in Spain persuaded the king to ban it. Today, El Ron is aged in a 12-year solera system and matured in ex-raisin wine barrels.
Aged RumRum that is aged, but no specific type or size barrel required. No set time required for length of aging, but will often carry an age statement (which should be taken with a grain of salt). Often thought of as "sipping rums".
