First pour: all ethanol heat and barrel char.
Second pour (a few weeks later, and a few drinks in already): caramel candy corn, stewed red apples in baking spice, just the right amount of oak tannins to let you know this isn't a young bourbon. Long long long finish. Thick syrupy mouth feel. Hint of barrel char.
Pure delight.
Caveat: You gotta warm up, so to speak. Usain bolt doesn't just get off the couch and break world records. Same applies here. Ease into it with a glass or two of your favorite whisky and then go for the gold.
