Elijah Craig Barrel Proof Bourbon

131 proof. Lots of heat on this one. Intense cinnamon and pepper on the nose and palette. Priced at $60. Not bad value for a barrel proof bourbon.

After burning off my nose hair, I was rewarded by the smell of peanut brittle, chocolate, and tangy fruits reminiscent of underripe strawberries and oranges which carried through into the taste. I was told that this particular batch has a "brittle" mouthful, and I can see how as it feels like having cracking liquid peanut brittle in your mouth. Loved this so much, I went out to buy a second bottle after several drams.

Vanilla, limited release Released in November

The nose is largely cinnamon, toffee and leather. A little caramel and tart cherry also appear. The palate is a little dry, with more cinnamon, caramel and leather, and a short appearance of vanilla. The finish is a little nutty, a little hot but smooth and fairly long. There is even more cinnamon, rye and some leather. Overall, this is delicious and well worth the money.
